Made for this moment

A story along the Brazos.
At sky scale.

The Brazos River links some of Waco’s most recognizable gathering places. We can build a celebration around your community, company, or family, shaping clear formations for the chosen viewing area while the riverfront and surrounding site receive an individual planning review.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Waco

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A riverfront finale that reads from shore

The Brazos and Waco Suspension Bridge can inspire a visual sequence without becoming the launch location. Public paths, bridge users, boats, and the position of each audience area shape the flight and viewing plan.

Green, gold, and a shared tradition

A Baylor fan gathering can build from team colors into an approved symbol or message. McLane Stadium’s river setting is distinctive, but qualifying football restrictions and university permissions must be reviewed for the actual date.

A community evening with a musical finish

Indian Spring Park hosts riverfront programming including Brazos Nights. A separate festival concept can use a musical arc and a clear closing formation, with event permissions and public-space access agreed before production.

An idea beyond the meeting room

For a downtown business reception or an event at the Extraco campus, choose the message guests should remember. We can translate it into a short reveal, then assess whether an outdoor viewing and launch arrangement can support it.

A private celebration beyond downtown

For a wedding toward Woodway or a family event near Hewitt, a name or meaningful motif can anchor the finale. Review tree lines, nearby homes, property boundaries, and equipment access alongside the creative brief.

Start with both sides of the site plan

A river view and a suitable flight area are separate requirements. Waco Regional and TSTC Waco airports, weather, current notices, and the full proposed altitude range belong in the same early feasibility review.

University riverfront stadium

McLane Stadium

Waco, Texas

Baylor’s Brazos-side stadium requires university coordination, review of qualifying football restrictions, and separation from spectators, bridges, and river traffic.

Discuss an outdoor concept with the campus operator. Event occupancy, livestock, structures, parking use, and a separate flight footprint determine whether the plan can work.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Waco Regional Airport

Northwest Waco

Official facility information

Review the exact flight location and altitude against current controlled airspace, facility maps, and notices. Airport proximity alone does not determine the authorization process.

TSTC Waco Airport

Northeast Waco

Official facility information

This airport is part of the aviation review for northeast-area sites. Check current aircraft activity and airspace rather than assuming the former military field is inactive.

Robert Gray Army Airfield / Fort Hood

Killeen area · wider region, outside Waco

Official facility information

Relevant when a proposed event extends southwest toward the installation. Military boundaries, training airspace, and current restrictions need separate review; they do not apply uniformly to every Waco venue.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Military & sensitive sites

Military installation restrictions are separate from routine controlled-airspace authorization and ground permissions. Check current designated restrictions for the complete proposed flight area.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Waco?

What should we check first when planning an event in Waco?

Austin and Fort Worth are wider-region guides, not Waco neighborhoods. River access, trail users, and bridge sightlines need their own site review. Send the event date, venue address, viewing area, and intended show height so we can begin the site review.

Can you plan a drone show at my Waco venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Waco?

We welcome enquiries for Waco and surrounding communities. Austin and Fort Worth are wider-region guides, not Waco neighborhoods. River access, trail users, and bridge sightlines need their own site review. Share the full venue address so we can review the actual event location.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Waco cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
