Made for this moment

San Antonio, in full color.
At sky scale.

From the creative life of Southtown to the gatherings around Hemisfair, San Antonio offers many ways to make a show feel connected to its audience. We start with the meaning of the occasion, then develop the formations and the ground plan together, respecting the setting and the people who use it.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Your occasion sets the direction. We shape the creative around it.

Show imagery illustrates creative possibilities, rather than performances at specific San Antonio venues.

Rooted in San Antonio

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A celebration with a local voice

Fiesta’s community traditions show how many stories can come together in one city. For your own festival or civic gathering, a sequence could build through color, movement, and a closing image chosen with the organizers. We develop that story for your event; a concept inspired by San Antonio does not imply an official Fiesta partnership.

Let the river guide the composition

The River Walk can inspire a flowing sequence or a visual journey through the city. It is also a place with bridges, trees, boats, buildings, and people moving through narrow spaces. We assess where guests would actually see the formations and look for a separate workable flight footprint, rather than assuming the river itself can host a show.

Art that feels close to the audience

Southtown’s galleries and the historic character of King William offer creative starting points for an arts-led event. A meaningful motif or a collaboration with your chosen artist could connect the show to the people watching. We discuss permission to use the artwork and keep the formations readable from the agreed audience position.

A conference finale outside the room

For a company gathering or conference reception near Hemisfair, a short story in light could carry a closing message beyond the stage. We review the route to the outdoor viewing area, nearby structures, lighting, and public access before designing the reveal. The creative ambition needs to fit the space guests can safely occupy.

Silver, black, and a crowd looking up

Spurs and UTSA fans bring different traditions to San Antonio’s sports calendar. A fan celebration can build around team colors and approved graphics, with the actual event and venue driving the planning review. Indoor arenas and covered stadiums need an exterior viewing concept, and qualifying football events can add temporary flight restrictions.

A personal chapter toward the Hill Country

A wedding toward Boerne or a private celebration near Helotes can call for a quieter story: a date, a name, or an image with meaning for your guests. We review terrain, oak canopies, neighboring land, access, and the proposed launch area early. Military and civilian aviation considerations still depend on the precise property and flight volume.

Covered stadium & event grounds

Alamodome

San Antonio, Texas

A potential starting point for an exterior fan-event concept. Review the roof, guest route, UTSA or other qualifying football schedules, and a separate launch and flight area.

Indoor arena & exterior event settings

Frost Bank Center

San Antonio, Texas

The arena is a sports and entertainment setting, but an outdoor drone concept needs an exterior audience plan. Building obstruction, nearby properties, event timing, and site permissions all need review.

Downtown community event lawn

Hemisfair — Kelleher Family Lawn

San Antonio, Texas

A reservable space for markets and community gatherings. Its size, adjacent uses, trees, buildings, and public access mean a separate flight area would need assessment.

Official venue website

Outdoor theatre

Sunken Garden Theater

San Antonio, Texas · adjacent to Brackenridge Park

An outdoor performance setting shaped by a former quarry. Review surrounding walls, terrain, trees, audience sightlines, available launch space, and current venue availability.

County park & pavilion grounds

Mission County Park

San Antonio, Texas · Bexar County

A county event setting near Mission San José. Review the exact land manager and flight footprint, nearby national park boundaries, public paths, and Stinson-area aviation activity.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

San Antonio International Airport (SAT)

North-central San Antonio

Official facility information

A key consideration for north and central-area proposals. Review the complete show volume, requested height, date, and current FAA maps before determining authorization requirements.

Stinson Municipal Airport (SSF)

South San Antonio / Mission Reach area

Official facility information

Include Stinson when assessing south-side and Mission Reach settings. The exact flight area and current airspace matter alongside aircraft activity and venue access.

Kelly Field / JBSA-Lackland

Southwest San Antonio · military aviation

Official facility information

Review military flight activity, installation boundaries, and applicable restrictions separately from venue consent. Any FAA authorization and military permissions must fit the specific operation.

JBSA-Randolph

Northeast metro / Universal City area

Official facility information

A military flying-training environment relevant to northeast-area venues. Current notices, airspace, and installation requirements need review for the proposed flight volume.

Martindale Army Airfield

East San Antonio · military airfield

Official facility information

Include military helicopter operations and installation restrictions in east-side site review. A civilian event permit does not authorize flight over a military facility.

JBSA-Fort Sam Houston

San Antonio · military installation

Official facility information

An installation consideration distinct from a civilian airport. Review protected boundaries, current restrictions, and any required military coordination for nearby proposals.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

City venue and park reservations

Identify the operator for your selected park, plaza, or venue. A reservation or special-event approval addresses site use; it does not grant aviation authorization.

Official planning guidance

National park boundaries matter

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is a separate land-management setting. National Park Service drone closures and any exceptions require their own review; a county or city reservation does not cover NPS land.

River Walk, Mission Reach, city parks, county parks, and national park lands have different managers. A scenic setting or event reservation does not establish drone permission.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in San Antonio?

Can a River Walk or missions-area event include a show?

Start with the exact address and the land manager. Bridges, trees, public paths, nearby airfields, military restrictions, and national park boundaries may affect feasibility. We assess the proposed viewing and flight areas separately; a riverfront booking does not establish permission to operate drones.

Can you plan a drone show at my San Antonio venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown San Antonio?

We welcome enquiries for San Antonio and surrounding communities including New Braunfels, Schertz, Cibolo, Boerne, Helotes, and Converse. Every venue needs its own site and airspace review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in San Antonio cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
