SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Extraordinary shows.
Responsible flight.

Safety starts long before takeoff. Layered safeguards, prepared operators, and a clear plan work together to protect every performance.

LAYERS OF PROTECTION

A second way to stay connected.

Primary Wi-Fi and a backup radio channel give operators redundant ways to communicate with the fleet. Check both links as part of preflight preparation.

BUILT-IN SAFEGUARDS

More than one
line of protection.

Spectra and Starbound OS bring communication redundancy, operating boundaries, and fleet controls into the show workflow. Good procedures bring those safeguards together.

01

Dual communication

Primary Wi-Fi and a backup radio channel give operators redundant ways to communicate with the fleet. Check both links as part of preflight preparation.

02

Geofence protection

Define the operating area before launch. Geofences help keep drones within the planned show area, with configured automatic actions if an aircraft crosses a boundary.

03

Fleet-wide actions

Commander gives trained operators fleet-wide emergency actions, including return to home, land all, and emergency motor stop. Select the appropriate response for the situation and approved operating procedures.

PREPARE FOR THE UNEXPECTED

A clear action.
When it matters.

Starbound Commander puts emergency fleet controls within reach. Brief the team on each response before flight, and use the action appropriate to the site, aircraft state, and operating procedures.

Explore Starbound Commander

Return to home

Command the fleet to return to its designated home locations.

Land all

Command all drones to land, following the planned emergency procedures.

Kill all / emergency motor stop

Stop the motors across the fleet. This can cause aircraft to fall; it is an emergency last resort, not a controlled landing.

GEOFENCE RESPONSE

Define the boundary and the automatic response before launch. If a drone exits its geofence, the configured action provides another layer of protection.

U.S. OPERATIONS & FAA PLANNING

The right people.
The right permissions.

Build regulatory planning into the show schedule. Pilot certification, operational waivers, and airspace authorization serve different purposes.

01

A qualified pilot

A U.S. Part 107 show needs a remote pilot in command with a valid Remote Pilot Certificate and current training. Operator preparation must cover the aircraft, site, procedures, and applicable waiver conditions.

FAA pilot requirements
02

The applicable waiver

A show in which one pilot operates multiple drones requires a waiver from §107.35. Other aspects of the operation may need additional waivers. Secure the applicable approvals and follow their conditions.

FAA Part 107 waivers
03

Airspace access

Obtain FAA airspace authorization when required, including for operations in controlled airspace. A show waiver does not replace this authorization. Check the location, restrictions, and permission requirements before committing to flight.

FAA airspace authorizations

U.S. planning guidance, reviewed September 22, 2026. Requirements depend on the operation, location, and approval conditions. Follow current FAA rules and all applicable local requirements.

OPERATOR READINESS

Good preparation.
Every single show.

Operator guidelines and training support a consistent safety process, from site assessment through the post-flight review. They complement the pilot’s FAA qualifications and the conditions of each approval.

Talk to us about operator preparation
  1. Plan the site

Review airspace, permissions, weather, audience separation, and the operating area.

  2. Check the fleet

Inspect aircraft and batteries. Confirm communications, geofences, and configured automatic responses.

  3. Brief the team

Assign roles, rehearse emergency decisions, and review the approved show procedures.

  4. Review the flight

Recover logs, inspect issues, and record follow-up maintenance before the next performance.
