Made for this moment

A Piney Woods story.
At sky scale.

Stephen F. Austin State University and downtown Nacogdoches give local celebrations different rhythms. From a reunion or community festival to a company milestone or wedding, we build the show around your occasion and review how it can be experienced from the actual event setting.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Your occasion sets the direction. We shape the creative around it.

Show imagery illustrates creative possibilities, rather than performances at specific Nacogdoches venues.

Rooted in Nacogdoches

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A Lumberjack gathering in purple

SFA Homecoming connects students, former students, and the wider community. A separate reunion or fan event can build around purple formations, a class date, and a shared closing message, with university marks used only when appropriately approved.

Brick streets as the opening image

Downtown Nacogdoches offers a distinctive visual reference for an event story. Its buildings and active streets also affect real sightlines and launch options. The creative can draw on that character while the production plan identifies suitable land and a defined viewing direction.

A community finale with a musical arc

Festival Park hosts outdoor gatherings, including the Blueberry Bluegrass Concert in the Park. For your own festival concept, music and a readable closing image can bring the audience together. The park operator, trees, public access, and stage schedule shape feasibility.

A reveal for the people behind the business

For a company anniversary, civic fundraiser, or gathering at the county event campus, choose the message guests should remember. A symbol or product can emerge through a short visual sequence, provided the site offers suitable outdoor viewing and a separated launch area.

A personal story among the pines

For a wedding or family milestone around Nacogdoches, a name or shared motif can carry the final moment. Forest-edge and garden properties need particular attention to tree lines, access, terrain, and neighboring land before a performance concept is confirmed.

Check the airport notices as well as the clearing

A. L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport is part of the local aviation review. Its operator has published construction advisories, illustrating why current notices matter. Proposals toward Lufkin also need review of the relevant aviation activity there, rather than one assumption for all East Texas sites.

University football stadium

Homer Bryce Stadium

Nacogdoches, Texas

SFA’s football setting requires university coordination, audience and launch separation, and review of the actual event’s notices and restrictions. Do not assume every college game creates the same stadium TFR.

Festival Park

Nacogdoches, Texas

A City park with a stage, pavilion, and open field. Review reservations, public access, trees, nearby streets, and an independent flight footprint with the operator.

Rodeo, fair & event campus

Nacogdoches County Exposition & Civic Center

Nacogdoches, Texas

A potential operator-led discussion for a large gathering. The covered arena is not open-sky viewing; an aerial component needs suitable outdoor guest positions, launch space, and separation from livestock and event traffic.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

A. L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport

West Nacogdoches

Official facility information

The City has published runway and taxiway construction notices. Consult current FAA NOTAMs and operator information when reviewing aircraft activity, the proposed altitude, and the full performance volume.

Angelina County Airport

Diboll / southwest of Lufkin · outside Nacogdoches

Official facility information

A wider-region airport to review when an event plan extends toward Lufkin or Diboll. Current aircraft activity and airspace must be checked for that specific site rather than applied uniformly to Nacogdoches.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Military and sensitive-site restrictions

The site review also checks current designated security restrictions and any military activity relevant to the flight area. These are separate from park, university, and landowner permissions.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Nacogdoches?

How does tree cover affect a Nacogdoches show?

We need clear launch and performance space as well as a readable audience view. Tree height, branches, terrain, neighboring property, and equipment access are reviewed at the specific site. An attractive clearing or a park reservation alone does not establish that a drone performance is feasible.

Can you plan a drone show at my Nacogdoches venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Nacogdoches?

We welcome enquiries for Nacogdoches and the surrounding communities. Lufkin and the surrounding communities are separate locations. Piney Woods tree cover and property boundaries can limit both the flight footprint and the audience view. Share the full venue address and event date so we can assess the actual site.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Nacogdoches cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
