Made for this moment

Find your Denton rhythm.
At sky scale.

UNT, Texas Woman’s University, the downtown Square, and Denton’s community festivals give local gatherings distinct identities. We develop a show around yours, connecting the chosen music and message with a clear audience view and a practical site plan.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Denton

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

Two universities, different reasons to celebrate

A UNT alumni event and a Texas Woman’s University milestone should each tell its own story. Choose the class year, people, colors, or achievement that matters to your group; university identity and protected marks need the appropriate approval before they become formations.

Carry a musical idea above the crowd

Denton’s music scene and events such as the Blues Festival give a celebration a natural rhythm. A short sequence can develop with the chosen track, then resolve into a message people can read together. Stage timing and audience direction guide the choreography.

A downtown gathering starts at street level

The Courthouse-on-the-Square is a recognizable local image, but downtown streets, buildings, and evening activity constrain a real flight plan. Use it as creative inspiration while reviewing whether the event has an appropriate viewing area and separate launch property.

A Mean Green moment beyond the scoreboard

For a fan or former-student gathering, green and white can introduce a sequence built around a shared message. DATCU Stadium proposals require university coordination, review of qualifying football restrictions, and a site layout that separates the fleet from spectators.

A private celebration on the town’s edges

For a wedding toward Argyle or a family event near Corinth, the final formation can be something personal rather than a campus emblem. Trees, neighboring homes, property lines, crew access, and the guests’ viewing position all influence the production approach.

Bring the airport into the first review

Denton Enterprise Airport serves the city’s west side within the wider DFW aviation environment. A park, campus, and rural venue can present different airspace cases. We start with exact coordinates, height, date, and the full show operation rather than a blanket citywide assumption.

University football stadium

DATCU Stadium

Denton, Texas

UNT’s football venue requires campus coordination and review of qualifying sports restrictions. Seating geometry, structures, crowd movement, and a separate launch area determine the production approach.

Civic park & festival setting

Quakertown Park

Denton, Texas

A park used for community programming, including the Denton Blues Festival. Review public access, bridges, mature trees, nearby facilities, and City event permission before choosing a flight footprint.

Fairgrounds, outdoor music & rodeo

North Texas Fair & Rodeo grounds

Denton, Texas

An established setting for concerts, livestock, and rodeo activity. A show concept needs operator agreement and review of rides, animals, temporary installations, parking use, and guest separation.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Denton Enterprise Airport

West Denton

Official facility information

The FAA identifies the airport’s controlled airspace within the wider DFW environment. Review current maps and the full proposed flight volume before determining authorization requirements.

Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport

North Fort Worth · outside Denton

Official facility information

Relevant when an event plan extends south toward the Alliance area. Current aircraft activity, airspace boundaries, and notices must be assessed for the actual site and show altitude.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

DFW region · outside Denton

Official facility information

Regional controlled airspace belongs in the review without assuming every Denton location has the same constraints. Check current FAA information at the intended performance coordinates.

NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth

Fort Worth · wider region, outside Denton

Official facility information

A separate military consideration when event plans extend toward west Fort Worth. Installation restrictions and military airspace are assessed independently of landowner permission and routine civilian authorization.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

UNT campus drone procedures

UNT applies its own registration and review procedures to campus UAS activity, including contractors and visitors. Coordinate with the university as well as reviewing the applicable FAA requirements.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Denton?

Does UNT permission cover the FAA requirements for a show?

No. UNT has its own UAS procedures for campus activity. University or venue approval is separate from controlled-airspace authorization, applicable operational waivers, and event-specific flight restrictions. Denton Enterprise Airport is also part of the site review.

Can you plan a drone show at my Denton venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Denton?

We welcome enquiries for Denton and the surrounding communities. Frisco and Fort Worth are separate cities in the wider region. UNT and Texas Woman’s University are separate institutions; each campus property needs its own permissions review. Share the full venue address and event date so we can assess the actual site.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Denton cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
