Made for this moment

A new view of Plano.
At sky scale.

Plano brings corporate gatherings, downtown arts events, and large park settings into the same city. We build a show around the occasion and the people attending, with formations designed for a defined viewing area and a site plan developed around the real surroundings.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Plano

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

Put the idea at the center of the reveal

For a Legacy West company event, the most useful starting point is the message guests should remember. A product outline can develop into a closing brand image, with buildings, terraces, and the viewing direction assessed before design is finalized.

An arts-district gathering with its own voice

Downtown Plano’s Haggard Park and McCall Plaza connect public events with walkable streets and cultural spaces. A concept for this setting must account for street activity, trees, nearby buildings, and a separate launch footprint.

A shared finale at the edge of the stage

Red Tail Pavilion’s open-air concert setting offers inspiration for a music-led closing moment. Stage structures and the slope of the audience area influence the angle from which guests could see the formations.

A sky with more than one kind of aircraft

Plano’s balloon festival is part of its local identity. A drone proposal around balloon activity requires deliberate separation and event coordination; a balloon event’s permission does not grant authorization for a drone performance.

Celebrate the people wearing your colors

A school, club, or company-team celebration can build around colors and a shared message. Keep the creative specific to your group, clear any protected marks, and review the actual event restrictions before choosing show timing.

A personal finale beyond the busy district

For a wedding or family celebration, a name or symbol can carry more meaning than a skyline. Park and private-property settings require review of trees, neighborhood boundaries, public access, and a clear viewing area.

Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve

Plano, Texas

Trails, lake edges, habitat, public use, and any concurrent balloon operations shape feasibility. Available-looking meadow is not automatically an approved launch area.

Downtown civic park

Haggard Park

Plano, Texas

A downtown festival and gathering space with a gazebo, pond, and trees. Review adjacent streets, park permissions, and guest sightlines before developing an aerial concept.

Legacy Hall and The Box Garden

Plano, Texas

A multi-level food hall and outdoor stage setting. Nearby buildings, balconies, guest circulation, and a separate launch property are critical to individual review.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Addison Airport

Addison · outside Frisco and Plano

Official facility information

A relevant general-aviation airport for the northern Dallas area. Review the performance volume, controlled-airspace boundaries, and aircraft activity for the chosen venue.

McKinney National Airport

McKinney · outside Frisco and Plano

Official facility information

Include this airport in the review for eastern and northern event locations. Consult current airport information and FAA notices rather than relying on an old map or airport code.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

DFW metro · southwest of Frisco and Plano

Official facility information

Review regional controlled airspace at the requested altitude and coordinates. A clear-looking field does not establish an authorized flight area.

NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth

Fort Worth · wider region, outside Frisco and Plano

Official facility information

Relevant when an event plan extends west across the metro. Military installation restrictions and any applicable military airspace require their own review.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Military & sensitive sites

Military installation restrictions are separate from routine controlled-airspace authorization and ground permissions. Check current designated restrictions for the complete proposed flight area.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Plano?

What should we check first when planning an event in Plano?

Each DFW city and venue needs its own coordinates and airspace review. Balloon activity and other temporary aviation uses also need event-specific coordination. Send the event date, venue address, viewing area, and intended show height so we can begin the site review.

Can you plan a drone show at my Plano venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Plano?

We welcome enquiries for Plano and surrounding communities. Each DFW city and venue needs its own coordinates and airspace review. Balloon activity and other temporary aviation uses also need event-specific coordination. Share the full venue address so we can review the actual event location.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Plano cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
