Made for this moment

A borderland story.
At sky scale.

The Franklin Mountains and the Rio Grande give El Paso a distinctive visual starting point. For a company reveal, community night, or family milestone, we can turn your chosen symbols and music into formations designed to read clearly from the guests’ viewing area.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in El Paso

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

Let the mountains draw the first line

A Franklin Mountains silhouette can open an El Paso sequence before the formations move into your event’s own story. The mountains are creative inspiration; using park land as a launch site would require a separate permissions review.

A celebration shaped by borderland culture

The Mission Trail and the city’s Mexican and Southwestern influences offer rich starting points for an original community celebration. Choose the people, language, and symbols that matter to your audience, then build a visual narrative around them.

A downtown reveal with a clear viewing direction

For a conference reception or brand milestone near the convention district, a simple product outline can build toward a closing message. Downtown rooflines and surrounding streets help determine where guests can see the complete formation.

Bring the fans into the finale

UTEP football and Chihuahuas baseball suggest different event rhythms. We can develop a fan-night concept around color and movement, with licensed team marks supplied for approved use and the specific event’s flight restrictions checked separately.

A personal moment in the desert city

A wedding date or family symbol can become the final image for a private celebration. At outlying properties, review surface conditions, equipment access, neighboring homes, and wind exposure before committing to a launch plan.

Plan around the border and the airspace

The international boundary, El Paso International Airport, and Fort Bliss make precise coordinates essential. The flight area must fit the applicable US permissions and restrictions; a skyline view is not evidence that the airspace is available.

Use these venues as starting points for your event plan. Each listing is a potential setting for individual review, with venue participation, permissions, launch and flight space, airspace, and show timing confirmed before a performance is agreed.

University stadium

Sun Bowl Stadium

El Paso, Texas

UTEP’s football setting requires university coordination, stadium-event restriction checks, and a flight area separated from spectators. Review the mountain-facing sightlines and surrounding terrain.

Official venue website

Downtown ballpark

Southwest University Park

El Paso, Texas

A potential sports or private-event setting subject to operator permission. Downtown buildings, nearby streets, crowd circulation, and the full flight footprint need review.

Official venue website

Outdoor amphitheater

McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre

El Paso, Texas

The canyon setting calls for careful terrain, wind, stage, and audience-angle assessment. An outdoor performance venue does not automatically provide suitable launch space.

Official venue website

Downtown civic plaza

San Jacinto Plaza

El Paso, Texas

A central gathering space surrounded by downtown streets and buildings. Review pedestrian access, trees, audience sightlines, City permission, and an independent launch property.

Official venue website

County park & event grounds

Ascarate Park

El Paso, Texas

Lake, boardwalk, recreation facilities, and public activity all affect the site plan. County event permission and a separated flight area require review alongside nearby aviation.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

El Paso International Airport

El Paso

Official facility information

Check controlled airspace and current notices for the exact launch point, flight area, altitude, and date. The airport’s passenger website does not confer flight authorization.

Biggs Army Airfield / Fort Bliss

El Paso · military installation

Official facility information

Military flying activity, installation boundaries, and national-security restrictions require a separate review alongside FAA authorization and ground permissions.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Military & sensitive sites

Military installation restrictions are separate from routine controlled-airspace authorization and ground permissions. Check current designated restrictions for the complete proposed flight area.
