Made for this moment

An Oceanside moment, written in light.
At sky scale.

The pier, downtown’s cultural life, and inland event spaces suggest different ways to bring guests together. We shape the story around the occasion while reviewing the coastal setting, public access, civilian aviation, and nearby military activity.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Whatever brings you together.

Your occasion sets the direction. We shape the creative around it.

Show imagery illustrates creative possibilities, rather than performances at specific Oceanside venues.

Rooted in Oceanside

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A coastal image with a clear point of view

The pier can inspire a visual journey or a final silhouette, but the real audience view needs careful selection. Beach users, roads, structures, and the horizon affect what guests can see. We develop the creative and assess the separate operational area together.

A finale at the foot of the pier

The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater hosts performances and cultural gatherings. A potential drone concept would need operator coordination, stage timing, crowd separation, and review of the coastal flight environment. The venue’s history does not establish a current performance agreement.

A community story from downtown

Oceanside’s local arts and the life around downtown can provide a brief with more character than a generic beach scene. Share the people, symbols, and music connected to your occasion. We develop original formations with any protected work cleared for use.

A business gathering away from the shoreline

An inland reception at an event venue can call for a different production plan from a pier-side gathering. We assess trees, neighboring properties, access routes, and where the audience would stand. The venue booking and aviation review progress as separate parts of the plan.

A private milestone for the people closest to you

For a wedding or anniversary, a name, date, or personal symbol can become the closing image. We review the proposed property and guest arrangement before confirming the scope. Coastal wind and contingency options are part of that conversation.

Civilian and military flight activity matter

Oceanside Municipal Airport, McClellan-Palomar, and Camp Pendleton have different roles in the region. The exact event location determines relevance. We review current airspace and installation restrictions without suggesting that an airport or base phone call authorizes a show.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Bob Maxwell Memorial Field / Oceanside Municipal Airport (OKB)

Oceanside, California

Official facility information

Include general aviation activity and current airspace in the review for relevant north-coast sites. A nearby property address alone does not establish a suitable show location.

McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ / CLD)

Carlsbad, California

Official facility information

Review the proposed flight volume against current controlled-airspace boundaries and notices. The exact site and altitude guide authorization requirements.

Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton / Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton

North of Oceanside, California · military installation

Official facility information

Review military aviation, installation boundaries, current notices, and any required permission for relevant north-coast proposals. Ground consent and FAA authorization do not override military restrictions.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

California State Parks drone guidance

District rules, park management plans, commercial activity, and land-use permissions must be checked for the specific park. A park event reservation does not establish flight permission.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Oceanside?

Can the pier amphitheater host a drone finale?

It is a potential event setting for individual review. Public beach access, the audience layout, stage cues, wind, civilian airport activity, and Camp Pendleton-related restrictions may affect the proposal. No launch site or event date is assumed to be approved.

Can you plan a drone show at my Oceanside venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Oceanside?

We can review event plans in Oceanside and surrounding communities, including Carlsbad, San Diego, Vista. Each property needs its own assessment of access, audience positions, airspace, and flight space.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Oceanside cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
