Made for this moment

A Bakersfield rhythm.
At sky scale.

The Kern River, downtown’s arts spaces, and Bakersfield’s music traditions offer different starting points for an event. We connect those ideas with the actual site, choosing formations and viewing positions that suit the audience rather than relying on the size of an open-looking field.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Whatever brings you together.

Your occasion sets the direction. We shape the creative around it.

Show imagery illustrates creative possibilities, rather than performances at specific Bakersfield venues.

Rooted in Bakersfield

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A soundtrack with local roots

Bakersfield’s musical identity can inspire the pacing of a show without turning it into a stock western scene. Choose a song or a story that belongs to your group. We develop movement and color around that brief, with music rights and playback discussed during production planning.

Carry the fairground energy into a finale

A gathering at the Kern County Fairgrounds can bring performers, exhibitors, and families into one event. An aerial finale would need to fit that existing activity. We review the selected ground area, temporary structures, livestock or vehicle movements, and an audience position separated from the operation.

A business story from the valley

For an agricultural, logistics, or company milestone, the visual idea can begin with what your team makes possible. A simple outline could grow into a larger pattern and a closing message. The venue address, working-site access, and surrounding land uses shape the production approach.

An evening beside the river corridor

The Park at River Walk offers a different setting from a downtown reception. Trees, paths, water, and other park users influence sightlines and separation. We assess the proposed site with the operator rather than assuming that the river corridor provides an unobstructed flight area.

A message for your own crowd

A school, team, or family celebration can build toward a small detail everyone recognizes. For a private venue in Bakersfield or toward Shafter, we start with access and guest positions. The creative scope follows the property’s workable flight and viewing space.

Plan for the ground and the sky

Valley heat, dust, wind, and access can affect setup and contingency planning. Meadows Field and Bakersfield Municipal Airport are separate aviation considerations. Plans extending toward the Mojave Desert also need review of the military and special-use airspace relevant to that actual location.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Meadows Field (BFL)

Bakersfield / Kern County, California

Official facility information

Include commercial, general aviation, and helicopter activity in the exact site review. Current airspace and notices determine the applicable authorization process.

Bakersfield Municipal Airport (L45)

South Bakersfield, California

Official facility information

Review nearby proposals against current airport activity and airspace; an uncontrolled-airspace location would still need a complete operational and ground-safety assessment.

Edwards Air Force Base / R-2515

Mojave Desert, California · outside the immediate Bakersfield metro

Official facility information

Relevant when plans extend east toward the desert, rather than to every city venue. Review restricted airspace, installation boundaries, and current notices for that location.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

California State Parks drone guidance

District rules, park management plans, commercial activity, and land-use permissions must be checked for the specific park. A park event reservation does not establish flight permission.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Bakersfield?

Does a riverfront or fairground site automatically work?

No. We review the proposed launch area, public access, trees, structures, ground conditions, and current airspace. The Dignity Health Amphitheatre and fairgrounds are starting points for discussions with their operators, not approved drone sites.

Can you plan a drone show at my Bakersfield venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Bakersfield?

We can review event plans in Bakersfield and surrounding communities, including Fresno, Shafter, Wasco. Each property needs its own assessment of access, audience positions, airspace, and flight space.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Bakersfield cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
