Made for this moment

A Los Angeles original.
At sky scale.

Los Angeles is a collection of distinct settings, from downtown’s civic spaces to Hollywood’s performance venues and the coast. Your show starts with the specific gathering and property, with the creative direction and flight feasibility developed together.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Los Angeles

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

Build the reveal around the story

For a premiere, campaign launch, or creative milestone, a drone sequence can work like a short visual narrative. We build toward a recognizable final frame using artwork and marks approved for the event. The venue’s outdoor view and operational footprint guide the ambition.

A citywide name, a neighborhood audience

Downtown and Hollywood can suggest very different pacing, symbols, and music. We ask which local story actually belongs to your guests. That brief helps a community celebration feel connected to its organizers without borrowing identities or implying an unconfirmed neighborhood partnership.

Carry the concert beyond the last note

The Hollywood Bowl offers a distinctive performance context, but hills, trees, stage structures, and audience direction all affect an aerial concept. A potential venue listing does not establish an available date or suitable launch site. The operator and show team need to assess the production together.

A fan moment near the stadium

The Coliseum and Dodger Stadium sit within complex urban settings. A sports celebration could use approved team graphics, while the exact game schedule and current restrictions determine the aviation review. Stadium consent and a controlled-airspace authorization address different requirements.

A personal moment among the city lights

For a wedding or private gathering, the closing image might be a name, a date, or a shared memory. We review rooftop obstructions, neighboring properties, guest access, and the proposed ground setup. A skyline-facing terrace does not by itself provide the space a drone operation needs.

Plan by address, not by the city label

LAX, valley airports, helicopter activity, and sensitive installations make the exact address essential. A location in Burbank, Santa Monica, or Inglewood also has its own land-use context. We review current notices and the complete flight volume, including contingencies, before confirming feasibility.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Los Angeles, California · Westchester / coastal airport area

Official facility information

Current airspace, helicopter activity, notices, and the full proposed show volume need review. A venue’s distance from the terminals is not an approval rule.

Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)

Burbank, California · San Fernando Valley

Official facility information

An important early check for valley event sites. The full flight volume, altitude, date, and operation determine controlled-airspace and other requirements.

Van Nuys Airport (VNY)

Los Angeles, California · San Fernando Valley

Official facility information

Relevant to proposals extending into the valley. Review current airspace, aircraft activity, notices, and operational requirements for the exact property.

Hawthorne Municipal Airport / Jack Northrop Field (HHR)

Hawthorne, California · neighboring city

Official facility information

Include this general aviation airport in relevant South Bay and southwest-metro site reviews, with the actual flight location and altitude determining requirements.

Los Angeles Air Force Base / Space Base Delta 3

El Segundo, California · military installation outside Burbank and central Los Angeles

Official facility information

A sensitive-installation consideration for relevant southwest-area proposals, not a local runway for every venue. Installation restrictions and permissions are separate from FAA authorization.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

National Park Service uncrewed aircraft guidance

National Park Service lands have separate launch, landing, and operation restrictions. Check the responsible park and current closures when an event involves federal park property.

Official planning guidance

California State Parks drone guidance

District rules, park management plans, commercial activity, and land-use permissions must be checked for the specific park. A park event reservation does not establish flight permission.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Los Angeles?

Can a rooftop reception host a drone show?

A rooftop may be a viewing position, but it is not automatically a launch site. We assess structures, people below, surrounding properties, aircraft activity, and a separate suitable operational footprint. Share the full venue address and intended audience location.

Can you plan a drone show at my Los Angeles venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Los Angeles?

We can review event plans in Los Angeles and surrounding communities, including Burbank, Long Beach, Anaheim. Each property needs its own assessment of access, audience positions, airspace, and flight space.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Los Angeles cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
