Made for this moment

A Mersey story. A shared moment.
At sky scale.

Pier Head, the Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool’s park and stadium settings offer different ways to bring people together. We can draw on maritime movement and musical rhythm while reviewing the actual venue, audience view, land control and surrounding aviation. A famous backdrop is the beginning of the conversation, not an approved flight location.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Liverpool

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A waterfront sequence in motion

The Mersey waterfront offers a visual language of waves, journeys and changing horizons. For your own civic or private celebration, those ideas can develop into an original sequence. Vessel activity, exposed weather and public promenades must be part of the site review.

Music as the structure of the finale

Liverpool’s live-event calendar gives organisers many ways to gather an audience. Start with the emotional arc of your evening, then develop formations and timing around it. We do not imply participation in an existing festival or access to protected musical rights.

Pier Head needs more than a view

Pier Head is used for organised gatherings beside major civic landmarks. An aerial idea must address public movement, surrounding buildings and the land available for launch and recovery. A photograph of open waterfront space cannot answer those practical questions.

A Sefton Park gathering

Sefton Park offers a greener setting for community and cultural events. Trees, wildlife, paths and neighbouring activity need attention before deciding whether a separated operating area can work. Existing festivals provide context, not evidence of drone suitability.

Two stadium settings, two different plans

Anfield and Hill Dickinson Stadium have different surroundings and event configurations. A sports-related proposal needs the relevant operator’s involvement, clear guest sightlines and independent flight permissions. Dock-side exposure and urban crowd routes cannot be covered by one standard stadium assumption.

Keep the Wirral and cross-border sites distinct

A private celebration across the Mersey or toward Chester can involve different landowners, airports and councils. We assess the full address and viewing direction. A Liverpool-area enquiry does not imply that another borough or a site in Wales follows the same ground process.

Waterfront civic space

Pier Head

Liverpool, England

Assess public promenades, transport, vessel activity and a controlled launch area with the relevant site operator. Maritime views do not establish airspace permission.

Park & festival setting

Sefton Park

Liverpool, England

Review trees, lakes, wildlife and public routes, along with the actual event area. Any aerial component requires individual council and aviation assessment.

Football stadium & hospitality venue

Anfield

Liverpool, England

Review stadium rooflines, surrounding streets and crowd movements with Liverpool FC. Hospitality hire does not include launch land or flight approvals.

Dock-side football stadium & event venue

Hill Dickinson Stadium

Liverpool, England

Everton’s current stadium offers non-matchday events. Assess waterfront conditions, security, guest views and launch control for the proposed configuration.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Speke, Liverpool

Official facility information

Review current airport airspace and the appropriate drone permission route for the entire performance volume. Do not substitute a venue booking for aviation requirements.

Hawarden Aerodrome

Flintshire, Wales · outside Liverpool and across the national boundary

Official facility information

A separate aerodrome to consider when plans extend toward Chester or north-east Wales. Its operator publishes current drone approval information.

RAF Woodvale

Formby, Sefton · outside Liverpool city

Official facility information

A military airfield north of the city. Review its current activity and relevant restrictions for proposals extending toward Formby, separately from civilian airport permissions.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

CAA swarm guidance

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

NATS flight application guidance

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Waterfront context

Liverpool’s waterfront includes visitor, cruise and event activity. Establish the correct landowner or operator for the exact proposal.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Liverpool?

Does a Liverpool waterfront show need marine planning?

The site review includes vessel movement, shoreline access, public routes and any land or water under another operator’s control. Waterfront exposure and nearby aviation are assessed alongside the event plan. A riverside view alone does not establish a workable launch or performance footprint.

Can you plan a drone show at my Liverpool venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Liverpool?

We welcome enquiries for Liverpool and the surrounding area. Wirral and Sefton are separate boroughs; Manchester and Chester are separate cities. Cross-Mersey and cross-border settings need their own ground and aviation review. Share the venue address, date and audience layout so we can assess the specific proposal.

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Liverpool cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
