Made for this moment

A Coventry rhythm. A shared sky.
At sky scale.

Coventry’s Cathedral Quarter, independent creative spaces and park events give an entertainment sequence several points of inspiration. We review your actual venue and audience positions before developing the formations. Local aviation information also needs to reflect change, including Coventry Airport’s 2026 closure.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Coventry

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A musical identity with room for your story

Coventry’s music scene offers a starting point for rhythm, contrast and movement. For a company or community gathering, an original sequence can build towards a clear shared finale. Use of specific music or other protected content needs its own review.

A park audience at War Memorial Park

War Memorial Park is used for organised music and community gatherings. A proposed aerial element needs review of the memorial landscape, trees, public routes and ground conditions. Past concerts do not establish a suitable launch area or permission for a drone show.

The Cathedral Quarter as inspiration

The Cathedral Quarter gives Coventry events a distinctive architectural context. An entertainment concept can draw on ideas of connection and rebuilding without assuming flight access over historic structures. A specific viewing position and separately assessed performance space come first.

A sporting gathering at the CBS Arena

Coventry Building Society Arena hosts sport, music and business events. Its indoor spaces and stadium bowl need different viewing plans. Operator agreement, roof obstructions, security and controlled land are assessed before an aerial component is confirmed.

A creative-company celebration

FarGo Village and the city’s independent scene suggest an event built around making and collaboration. The display can use expanding patterns and colour rather than assumed promotional messaging. The exact property still determines where crew and guests can safely gather.

Use current airport information

Official aeronautical information announced Coventry Airport’s closure in June 2026. We do not list it as an ordinary operating airport. Closure also does not make every nearby flight feasible: current charts, notices, Birmingham Airport requirements and ground conditions still need review.

Use these venues as starting points for your event plan. Each listing is a potential setting for individual review, with venue participation, permissions, launch and flight space, airspace, and show timing confirmed before a performance is agreed.

Memorial park & festival setting

War Memorial Park

Coventry, England

Review memorial interests, tree cover, public access and an independent operating footprint with the council. Event use does not imply flight consent.

Sports stadium & conference campus

Coventry Building Society Arena

Coventry, England

Confirm the actual indoor or outdoor guest layout, rooflines, surrounding land and event security with the operator.

Historic civic & cultural setting

Coventry Cathedral precinct

Coventry, England

A constrained heritage setting requiring explicit operator discussion. Buildings, visitors and land boundaries may prevent a workable flight footprint.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

Birmingham Airport

Solihull · outside Coventry

Official facility information

The relevant controlled airspace and airport process depend on the exact Coventry-area flight location, altitude and operation. Use the current operator and aeronautical information.

Former Coventry Airport

Baginton, Warwickshire · outside Coventry city

Official facility information

A NATS aeronautical circular announced closure on 11 June 2026. Treat it as a former airport and verify current charts, site status and notices; closure is not blanket permission to fly.

RAF Cosford

Shropshire · wider region, outside Coventry metro

Official facility information

A wider Midlands military reference, not a Coventry airport. Review military restrictions and activity relevant to the actual event location rather than applying its local rules across the region.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

CAA swarm guidance

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

NATS flight application guidance

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Coventry Airport closure notice

Official aeronautical information announced closure on 11 June 2026. Check current publications rather than assume the former site or its surroundings are unrestricted.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Coventry?

Does Coventry Airport’s closure remove aviation planning requirements?

No. The closure announcement changes how the former airport is described, but a show still needs review of current charts, notices, other aviation activity and the complete flight volume. The applicable CAA authorisation and event-land permissions remain separate requirements.

Can you plan a drone show at my Coventry venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Coventry?

We welcome enquiries for Coventry and the surrounding area. Birmingham, Kenilworth, Warwick and Rugby are separate places. Sites toward Warwickshire and Solihull require their own aviation and land-permission checks. Share the venue address, date and audience layout so we can assess the specific proposal.

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Coventry cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
