Made for this moment

Light, movement and a Leeds audience.
At sky scale.

Millennium Square, Roundhay and Temple Newsam give Leeds event organisers very different settings. A cultural programme, company gathering or wedding needs its own pace and viewing direction. We review the selected venue and surrounding aviation before developing the performance in detail.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Leeds

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

An evening built around light

Light Night Leeds demonstrates the city’s appetite for shared experiences after dark. Your own arts event can use a musical sequence and an expressive closing image, without implying involvement in that festival. City-centre crowds and buildings shape what is practical.

A square with several neighbours

Millennium Square supports organised city events near civic and cultural buildings. A proposed aerial addition needs to work with public routes, existing activity and the ground the organiser can actually control. The square itself is not evidence of a viable flight footprint.

A Roundhay gathering among trees and water

Roundhay Park can inspire a family or music-event finale, with a broad landscape and established visitor use. Tree lines, lakes, sports activity and access for production vehicles need assessment before identifying a launch and recovery area.

An estate setting at Temple Newsam

Temple Newsam offers a different atmosphere for a private reception or cultural gathering. Historic buildings, gardens and parkland call for an operator-led discussion. Guests need a defined outdoor viewing position, with heritage and public access included in the review.

Sporting hospitality at Headingley

Cricket and rugby gatherings at Headingley have their own schedules and spectator layouts. An aerial concept must fit the specific event, rooflines and surrounding streets. Team-related visual content also needs appropriate rights and U.K. content review.

A business story with a measured reveal

For a Leeds company evening, we can build a sequence through colour and motion rather than assume a promotional message is permitted. The creative and the site plan develop together, including nearby homes and the route guests take outdoors.

Civic event square

Millennium Square

Leeds, England

Council event management and a defined public-access plan are essential. Review buildings, temporary structures and possible launch land beyond the viewing area.

Roundhay Park

Leeds, England

Assess trees, lakes, visitor routes and the precise event boundary with park management. Existing concerts do not establish drone suitability.

Historic estate & parkland

Temple Newsam

Leeds, England

Venue hire and heritage interests require manager involvement. Check equipment access, tree cover and the separation of guests from the proposed flight area.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

Leeds Bradford Airport

Yeadon, Leeds

Official facility information

The airport publishes its FRZ and drone request process. Check the exact site and full performance volume; its permission does not replace CAA operational authorisation.

Sherburn-in-Elmet Aerodrome

North Yorkshire · outside Leeds

Official facility information

Relevant when an event extends east of Leeds. The operator publishes current flying information; establish the current FRZ permission route for the proposed operation.

RAF Leeming

North Yorkshire · wider region, outside the Leeds metro

Official facility information

A wider Yorkshire military reference, not a Leeds airport. Review current activity only where the event location and operating area make it relevant.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

CAA swarm guidance

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

NATS flight application guidance

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Leeds event notification

Council-managed spaces and events on private land have an event notification process; documentation may include a risk assessment and event management plan.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Leeds?

How do Leeds park permissions relate to a drone show?

The council’s event agreement addresses the use of park land. A display also needs a workable launch and performance footprint and the applicable CAA and airspace permissions. We review those together with public access, trees, water and other park activity.

Can you plan a drone show at my Leeds venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Leeds?

We welcome enquiries for Leeds and the surrounding area. Bradford, Wakefield and Harrogate are separate places. Otley is within the Leeds district; airport requirements must be checked for each proposed address. Share the venue address, date and audience layout so we can assess the specific proposal.

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Leeds cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
