Made for this moment

A Foyle story. A shared moment.
At sky scale.

The Guildhall, Ebrington and the Foyle connect very different event settings in Derry/Londonderry. We develop an entertainment sequence for your occasion, with audience orientation, river activity and launch land considered from the start. A proposal near the border also needs a clear understanding of which jurisdiction contains the full flight area.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Derry/Londonderry

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A city of voices and shared gatherings

The council’s programme includes choir, jazz and seasonal celebrations. Your own music-led occasion can build towards an expressive visual finale. Those references are local context, not claims of participation in an existing event or access to its creative rights.

A Guildhall Square audience

The Guildhall is a backdrop to major civic events. An aerial proposal must address historic buildings, pedestrian movement and the space available beyond the viewing area. A square booking does not establish a workable launch or flight footprint.

Ebrington across the river

Ebrington Square provides an established outdoor event setting on the Waterside. A proposed finale needs to fit its event conditions, public access and neighbouring properties. The actual audience direction and separated operating area matter more than the square’s reputation as a venue.

A sequence shaped by the Foyle

Flowing lines and connections can draw on the river and its bridges. The performance still needs a specific approved footprint, with shoreline routes, structures, vessels and weather exposure considered. The river is not assumed to be empty operating space.

A green setting at St Columb’s

St Columb’s Park offers a different context from the civic squares. Trees, slopes, public recreation and equipment access affect a community or private celebration. An event needs its own controlled boundary and a clear view from the guest area.

The border belongs in the flight plan

A venue described as Derry-area may be close to County Donegal. We assess the full flight volume, not only the postal address. A proposal entering the Republic of Ireland requires separate Irish aviation research and permissions; U.K. CAA authorisation is not a substitute.

Ebrington Square

The Executive Office identifies the square as an outdoor event space. Assess neighbouring properties, guest orientation, public access and the entire flight footprint.

Trees, terrain, public recreation and access need review with the park manager. A community event agreement is separate from flight permissions.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

City of Derry Airport

Eglinton · outside the city centre

Official facility information

Review the current aerodrome information, FRZ and appropriate permission process against the actual show location and flight volume.

Joint Helicopter Command Flying Station Aldergrove

County Antrim · wider region, well outside Derry metro

Official facility information

A wider Northern Ireland military reference for proposals extending east. Do not treat it as a Derry airport or apply its local requirements to every city-centre venue.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

CAA swarm guidance

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

NATS flight application guidance

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Ebrington event conditions

The Executive Office publishes site and event information. Confirm current event conditions and the specific aerial proposal with the operator alongside aviation requirements.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Derry/Londonderry?

Can a show near Derry/Londonderry cross into Donegal?

A U.K. site enquiry does not authorise flight into the Republic of Ireland. We need the exact boundaries of the full operation and separate research with the Irish authorities if that jurisdiction is involved. The audience view, land control and local airport requirements also need assessment.

Can you plan a drone show at my Derry/Londonderry venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Derry/Londonderry?

We welcome enquiries for Derry/Londonderry and the surrounding area. Eglinton, Strabane, Limavady and Belfast are separate places. County Donegal is in the Republic of Ireland and requires a separate jurisdictional review. Share the venue address, date and audience layout so we can assess the specific proposal.

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Derry/Londonderry cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
