Made for this moment

A Bangor story with a coastal rhythm.
At sky scale.

Bangor in County Down brings together a marina, Castle Park and Ward Park’s summer music setting. We develop an entertainment-led sequence for your occasion while assessing the exact land, audience direction and aviation requirements. This guide covers Northern Ireland’s Bangor, separately from the city of the same name in Wales.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Bangor

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A coastal sequence of arrivals and connections

Bangor Marina suggests movement, journeys and gathering as creative ideas. A proposed waterfront performance still needs assessment of vessels, piers, public access and weather exposure. The harbour view does not provide automatic control of the launch or flight area.

A musical ending at Ward Park

Ward Park’s bandstand hosts summer live music. For your own community evening, a display could be explored only after reviewing the park’s trees, water, wildlife and surrounding homes. Existing concerts do not establish flight suitability or a partnership.

Castle Park and a personal celebration

Castle Park and the walled garden offer a different atmosphere from the marina. Mature trees, historic surroundings, visitor routes and garden protection all affect a private-event proposal. A garden booking alone does not establish a viable aerial production footprint.

A company gathering in a coastal city

For a Bangor business evening, a sequence can move from a simple shape into a broader pattern of colour. Proposed communications require U.K. review, and the guest plan needs a practical route from reception space to an agreed outdoor view.

Look beyond the waterline

Ballyholme and the wider coast have changing exposure, public paths and residential surroundings. A clear view over Belfast Lough is only part of feasibility. Controlled land, safe recovery space and consideration for neighbours must be established at the chosen property.

Newtownards and Belfast are distinct aviation settings

Newtownards Airport supports flying activity south of Bangor, while Belfast City Airport sits elsewhere along the Lough. The actual performance location, altitude and date determine the relevant review. One city-wide airport assumption would miss those differences.

Establish the exact harbour or land operator, vessel arrangements, public access and weather limits. A marina berth or event booking does not provide flight permission.

Trees, visitor access, historic features and the walled garden require a careful operator-led discussion of any aerial proposal.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

George Best Belfast City Airport

Belfast · outside Bangor

Official facility information

Review the current airport FRZ and application process for the full Lough-side flight volume. CAA authorisation and ground consent are separate.

Newtownards Airport

Newtownards, County Down · outside Bangor

Official facility information

An active aerodrome operated by Ulster Flying Club. Consult current aeronautical information and the relevant permission process rather than assume a coastal Bangor venue is unaffected.

Joint Helicopter Command Flying Station Aldergrove

County Antrim · wider region, outside Bangor metro

Official facility information

A wider-region military reference when the event extends west. Its activity and security requirements are separate from the local civilian aerodromes.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Ward Park’s setting

The council describes the park’s tree cover, wildlife, surrounding homes and community use. Those features need to be reflected in any event-production assessment.

in Bangor?

Is this guide for Bangor in Northern Ireland or Wales?

This page covers Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland. Send the full venue address for any enquiry so we assess the correct local authority, landowner, audience view and aerodrome requirements. A proposal in Bangor, Wales needs a separate local review.

Can you plan a drone show at my Bangor venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Bangor?

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Bangor cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
