Made for this moment

An Ozarks story, made yours.
At sky scale.

Springfield brings together road-trip history, university life, and a downtown built for gathering. We develop a show around the people and purpose of your event, then shape its scale and viewing direction around the actual venue, audience, and flight area.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Springfield

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

Take the road-trip story into the sky

Springfield’s Route 66 heritage offers a creative thread for a community anniversary or visitor gathering: a road unfolding, a familiar shape, then a message from your event. The design can reference that history without treating a downtown street or landmark as an approved launch site.

A downtown encore for your community

Jordan Valley and Founders Park support different kinds of public gatherings. A music-led finale can be designed for a defined audience position, with surrounding streets, trees, public paths, and everyday park use included in the site review.

A reunion in maroon and white

For Missouri State alumni, a graduation celebration, or a donor reception, a shared date or symbol can become the closing formation. Campus property use, university drone policy, and permission to use marks are separate parts of planning; a university booking alone does not approve a display.

Build on the ballpark atmosphere

Route 66 Stadium, formerly Hammons Field, provides a local baseball reference for fan gatherings and company events. We can build a sequence around the occasion’s colors and message while the operator reviews the schedule, audience layout, stadium lighting, and a distinct flight footprint.

Give a business milestone room to breathe

An exhibitor gathering at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds or a company anniversary elsewhere in Springfield can finish with an outdoor reveal. We begin with what guests should remember, then consider traffic, neighboring activity, event lighting, access, and the land needed for a separate launch area.

An Ozarks celebration with a clear view

For weddings and private gatherings toward Nixa, Ozark, or Republic, tree cover and changing ground levels can influence what guests see. Share the venue plan early so we can assess sightlines, neighboring homes, weather exposure, and suitable separation before proposing the performance.

Ballpark & special events

Route 66 Stadium (formerly Hammons Field)

Springfield, Missouri

The Springfield Cardinals’ ballpark offers event spaces. Review the current operator layout, fixtures, crowd movement, lighting, and separate launch land. Minor-league baseball alone does not establish an MLB stadium flight restriction.

Downtown park & civic events

Jordan Valley Park

Springfield, Missouri

Plazas, slopes, paths, and water features shape the audience plan. Park Board rental consent is separate from a suitable flight area and required aviation approvals.

Outdoor amphitheater & community gatherings

Founders Park

Springfield, Missouri

A compact downtown amphitheater setting. Adjacent buildings, trees, streets, public access, and the limited footprint require individual review; a stage reservation does not supply launch space.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF)

Springfield, Missouri · northwest of downtown

Official facility information

The FAA identifies Class C airspace and mixed airline, training, and military traffic. Review the full flight volume, altitude, and date; contact with an airport does not replace FAA authorization.

Downtown Airport (3DW)

Springfield, Missouri

Official facility information

A separate airfield from SGF. Include local aircraft activity and current airspace in reviews of central and eastern Springfield proposals; the airport name is not a downtown flight permission.

Forney Army Airfield / Waynesville–St. Robert Regional Airport

Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri · wider region northeast of Springfield

Official facility information

A joint military/civilian aviation reference for plans extending toward Fort Leonard Wood, outside the Springfield metro. Installation rules, military airspace, and current notices require their own review.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Missouri State campus drone policy

University property permissions are separate from venue arrangements and FAA requirements. Discuss the proposed operation with the university before assuming a campus location is available.

Official planning guidance

Downtown park rentals

Use the Park Board’s current Jordan Valley and Founders Park application to discuss ground use, public access, and event arrangements. A rental is not an aviation authorization.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Springfield?

Does a downtown Springfield event reservation include drone permission?

No. A park rental, ballpark booking, or campus event agreement does not establish a suitable flight area or replace aviation approvals. We review Springfield-Branson National Airport, Downtown Airport, current notices, audience separation, property consent, and any university requirements for the proposed operation.

Can you plan a drone show at my Springfield venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Springfield?

Planning in Nixa, Ozark, Republic, Willard, or toward Branson? Send the exact venue address. These are separate communities with different property owners, terrain, and aviation considerations.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Springfield cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
