Made for this moment

Santa Fe, in your own light.
At sky scale.

The Railyard’s contemporary art spaces, Canyon Road’s galleries, and the historic Plaza connect Santa Fe gatherings to very different surroundings. We begin with the artists, hosts, and community behind your event, then shape a readable aerial story and a practical plan for the chosen property.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Santa Fe

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

An artist’s mark, carried into light

Canyon Road’s galleries offer a starting point for a commission-led celebration. A line, color relationship, or motif chosen with your artist can become an animated sequence. We discuss reproduction rights and compose for an agreed audience view, without treating a gallery courtyard as an assumed launch site.

A shared moment at the Railyard

The Railyard and Guadalupe districts bring markets, galleries, rail travel, and outdoor performance together. For a community event, we can build a closing sequence around the organizer’s own story. Tracks, active public paths, trees, stage structures, and separate flight space need to be considered with the site operator.

Respect the traditions behind the occasion

Santa Fe’s visual arts span many communities and artistic traditions. Tell us who is contributing to your gathering and which stories they want to share. Community-specific symbols and Indigenous artwork should come from the people authorized to use them; we build the brief with your collaborators.

A performance shaped by the horizon

An opera-related reception or music gathering north of town can invite a slower, more theatrical composition. A mountain view does not ensure every seat can see the formations: roofs, terrain, and audience direction matter. We develop any potential aerial finale with the property operator and production team.

A civic finale with room to look up

A Plaza-area gathering or celebration near Fort Marcy starts with its public setting. Trees, historic buildings, sports schedules, and neighboring streets influence where people can stand and what they can see. A separate flight footprint must be established before a civic landmark becomes part of a show proposal.

A personal story beyond the reception

For a wedding toward Tesuque or a private gathering near Eldorado, a date or meaningful image can form a quiet closing chapter. The exact property, road access, elevation, slopes, and surrounding land ownership shape feasibility. We review wind and temperature conditions and discuss a weather contingency early.

Historic civic plaza

Santa Fe Plaza

Santa Fe, New Mexico

A city reservation process applies. Trees, historic surroundings, neighboring streets, crowd movement, and a separate flight area require careful review.

Community park & outdoor performance spaces

Santa Fe Railyard Park

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Review public paths, rail boundaries, planted areas, stage sightlines, and operator permissions. Event space does not automatically provide suitable aircraft space.

Fort Marcy recreation grounds

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Review the precise field booking, sports calendar, lighting, nearby homes, and public access with the city. Identify audience and flight areas independently.

Santa Fe County, New Mexico · north of the city

Review the theatre roof, mesa terrain, stage production, audience view, and neighboring land with the operator. A scenic backdrop is not an approved launch site.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Santa Fe Regional Airport (SAF)

Southwest Santa Fe

Official facility information

Assess current FAA maps, aircraft activity, the full performance area, and requested height. Event and landowner permissions do not establish controlled-airspace authorization.

Los Alamos Airport (LAM)

Los Alamos, New Mexico · wider region, outside Santa Fe

Official facility information

Relevant when a proposal extends toward Los Alamos. Mesa terrain and nearby restricted airspace need their own review; these constraints should not be generalized to every Santa Fe venue.

Kirtland Air Force Base

Albuquerque, New Mexico · wider region, outside Santa Fe metro

Official facility information

A separate military consideration for proposals extending south toward Albuquerque. Do not apply a blanket Kirtland restriction to Santa Fe; check the actual location and current notices.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Santa Fe park and sports-field reservations

Confirm the actual reserved space and applicable city event requirements. A Plaza or park reservation grants site use only within its conditions and does not authorize aviation activity.

Official planning guidance

Wider-region restricted airspace

For Los Alamos-area enquiries, use official local aviation information and current FAA restrictions. Federal and tribal land permissions require separate review.

City parks, county property, Pueblo lands, and federal lands have different authorities. Mountain terrain and wider-region restricted airspace require review of the exact location, rather than assumptions based on a Santa Fe mailing address.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Santa Fe?

Can a Santa Fe gallery or mountain-view venue host a show?

Possibly, after reviewing the actual property. Courtyards, trees, roofs, sloping ground, neighboring land, and airport or restricted-airspace considerations can limit options. We agree a viewing direction and assess a separate launch and flight footprint before designing for the setting.

Can you plan a drone show at my Santa Fe venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Santa Fe?

We welcome enquiries for Santa Fe and communities including Tesuque, Eldorado at Santa Fe, Agua Fria, Pojoaque, Española. Each proposed site needs its own flight, access, and audience review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Santa Fe cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
