Made for this moment

Albuquerque, in your own light.
At sky scale.

Old Town’s courtyards, the Route 66 corridor through Nob Hill, and downtown’s convention settings suggest very different celebrations. We connect those local references to your event, with a show composed for the audience’s actual view. Balloon activity, terrain, nearby aviation, and the ground plan are part of the first feasibility review.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Albuquerque

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A skyline inspired by the ballooning city

A balloon-shaped formation can be a creative reference for a community gathering, but an actual balloon event is a complex aviation environment. We review balloon movements, current notices, the organizer’s operating plan, and the full show volume before proposing a schedule. Inspiration does not imply a Balloon Fiesta booking or affiliation.

Follow the line of Route 66

The neon vocabulary of Central Avenue can inspire a sequence for an anniversary, neighborhood festival, or brand launch. A flowing line might become your chosen message. We design around an agreed viewing area and keep roads, public sidewalks, buildings, and operating space in the site review.

An arts story from Old Town to Nob Hill

Old Town’s adobe setting and Nob Hill’s small businesses offer different creative cues. For an arts-led gathering, work by your chosen artist can anchor the formations. We obtain the appropriate creative permissions and find a setting where guests can read the design without assuming a courtyard provides enough flight space.

A convention closing that opens outward

A downtown company event could move from the presentation room to an outdoor reveal. Civic Plaza is one potential gathering setting to assess with its operator. The guest route, stage equipment, surrounding towers, and available launch footprint determine how that transition could work.

A moment for the home crowd

A Lobos gathering or an Isotopes celebration can build around approved colors and imagery. The University Stadium and ballpark environments need different site plans, and qualifying football events may add temporary restrictions. We review the real schedule and aircraft environment before placing a show beside a game.

Your celebration, with the horizon in mind

For a wedding toward Corrales or a private event in the North Valley, a personal symbol can be composed against the evening horizon. Trees, irrigation corridors, neighboring properties, and aircraft activity still shape the plan. Elevation, temperature, and wind are assessed for the proposed fleet and site.

Launch field & festival grounds

Balloon Fiesta Park

Albuquerque, New Mexico

A major event setting with operator-controlled booking. Balloon operations, reserved event periods, current notices, guest separation, and the actual flight footprint require individual review.

Downtown plaza & outdoor stage

Civic Plaza

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Review stage and shade structures, surrounding buildings, public circulation, and a separate launch area with the operator. A plaza booking does not establish flight feasibility.

Baseball park

Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Assess stands, lighting, game schedules, audience orientation, and the south-campus aviation environment. Any performance needs a separate operating area.

College football stadium

University Stadium

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Review qualifying football restrictions, campus permissions, floodlights, seating sightlines, and Sunport/Kirtland aviation considerations for the proposed date.

Outdoor amphitheater

First Financial Credit Union Amphitheater

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Previously Isleta Amphitheater. Review the stage roof, lawn sightlines, venue access, surrounding land, and southeast-area aviation before developing a finale.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ)

Southeast Albuquerque

Official facility information

Review current controlled airspace and the full flight volume, including launch and recovery. A site outside airport property still needs an airspace assessment.

Double Eagle II Airport (AEG)

Albuquerque · West Mesa

Official facility information

General aviation, training, and other aircraft activity matter for west-side proposals. Check the precise performance location, altitude, date, and current FAA information.

Kirtland Air Force Base

Southeast Albuquerque · military installation

Official facility information

Review installation restrictions and military operations separately from civilian airspace authorization. The base’s drone policy is a planning constraint, not an invitation to use military land.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Albuquerque special-event permitting

Coordinate park use, street impacts, and the event site plan through the city’s applicable process. Ground permissions and any tribal land approvals remain separate from FAA requirements.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Albuquerque?

Can we fly a show during a balloon gathering?

Only a detailed review can establish whether a proposed operation fits the aviation environment and organizer’s plan. Balloon traffic, event-specific NOTAMs or TFRs, timing, airspace, and separation all matter. A booking at Balloon Fiesta Park does not authorize a drone show.

Can you plan a drone show at my Albuquerque venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Albuquerque?

We welcome enquiries for Albuquerque and communities including Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Los Lunas. Each proposed site needs its own flight, access, and audience review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Albuquerque cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
