Made for this moment

A college town with your story to tell.
At sky scale.

Norman’s Main Street arts scene, university gatherings, and neighborhood parks call for different kinds of celebrations. We begin with the people and purpose behind your event, then establish the audience view and a separate operating area. University requirements, Max Westheimer activity, and the wider metro’s aviation environment are part of the review.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Your occasion sets the direction. We shape the creative around it.

Rooted in Norman

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

An image the whole crowd can share

A Sooners celebration can start with approved colors and a symbol chosen for your event. Stadium seating, lights, the event schedule, and qualifying football restrictions shape feasibility. We discuss campus participation and a separate flight footprint before designing an aerial element for a game-adjacent gathering.

Follow an artist’s line from Main Street

Norman’s 2nd Friday Art Walk provides context for a community with an active downtown arts scene. For an artist-led event, a commissioned motif could unfold into a short visual story. We discuss rights and review buildings, streets, public circulation, and a separate aircraft area rather than assuming a gallery booking is sufficient.

A park finale with a clear direction

Andrews Park’s amphitheater and Reaves Park’s recreation setting invite different viewing arrangements. For a community festival, we can develop broad formations around the actual audience position. Trees, play areas, sports use, nearby streets, and access for the operating team all need to fit the event plan.

A milestone that brings colleagues outside

A university or business reception can end with a reveal built around a discovery, anniversary, or company message. The transition from the room to the outdoor viewing area is part of the plan. We assess campus or landowner requirements, lighting, nearby buildings, and aircraft activity before confirming a concept.

A seasonal gathering with a local voice

Downtown Norman’s fall celebrations show how Main Street can bring families and local performers together. Your own seasonal event could close with a community-chosen image. We review street closures, crowd movement, and the actual reserved footprint; an existing festival does not imply a drone-show partnership.

Keep the private story personal

For a Norman wedding or a family event toward Noble or Goldsby, a date or shared symbol can be enough for the closing reveal. We review neighboring land, trees, ground access, guest separation, and nearby aircraft. Weather conditions and contingency arrangements are discussed before the event.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Max Westheimer Airport (OUN)

North Norman

Official facility information

Include training and general aviation activity in site review. Requirements depend on current FAA airspace, the exact flight volume, requested height, and date.

OKC Will Rogers International Airport (OKC)

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma · wider metro

Official facility information

Relevant when reviewing northern and wider-metro proposals. Check the actual site against current airspace rather than treating city boundaries as clearance.

Tinker Air Force Base

Oklahoma City / Midwest City area · wider metro military installation

Official facility information

The installation publishes a no-drone policy. Military restrictions and any required coordination are separate from university, venue, and civilian FAA approvals.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

Norman outdoor-event planning

Coordinate public-event and park permissions with the city. The required site plan does not replace any applicable aviation authorization.

OU campus coordination

OU Campus Safety handles campus drone and event requirements. Confirm the current university process alongside FAA requirements; older university web material includes superseded recreational rules.

OU campus property, city parks, and private venues have different operators. Tinker and the wider Oklahoma City airport environment need review based on the actual site, not a blanket metro rule.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Norman?

Can a show accompany a Sooners football celebration?

A detailed review must establish campus participation, audience and aircraft areas, current airspace, and any qualifying football restrictions. Campus permission and ordinary FAA airspace authorization do not by themselves remove an event-specific stadium restriction.

Can you plan a drone show at my Norman venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Norman?

We welcome enquiries for Norman and surrounding communities including Oklahoma City, Moore, Noble, Goldsby, Newcastle, Purcell. Every proposed property needs an individual site and aviation review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Norman cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
