Made for this moment

From Main Street to a bigger canvas.
At sky scale.

Mesa’s downtown arts setting and its two spring-training ballparks suggest very different occasions. We develop the show around your own artists, guests, or team celebration, then assess the venue, flight footprint, and audience view. A downtown event and a southeast Mesa property also need different airport reviews.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Mesa

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A downtown artwork, reimagined in motion

The arts setting around Main Street can inspire a show built from an artist’s line or color palette. We work with your contributors on permission to adapt the piece and compose it for a defined viewing direction. Surrounding buildings, rail infrastructure, roads, and guest circulation remain part of the site review.

A shared moment for spring-training fans

Cubs and Athletics gatherings can build around approved team imagery and the meaning of the occasion. Sloan Park and Hohokam Stadium have different layouts and operator requirements. We review current game schedules, applicable baseball restrictions, lighting, audience orientation, and a separate aircraft operating area before proposing a finale.

An amphitheatre finale with a clear view

A music event at Mesa Amphitheatre invites a sequence that follows the energy beyond the stage. We discuss production timing and music rights, then assess stage structures, trees, nearby buildings, and lawn sightlines. A concert booking does not itself establish enough space or permission for flight.

A reveal for an East Valley milestone

For a business launch or company anniversary, a precise outline can build into your product or closing message. A southeast Mesa site needs an aviation review centered on its actual address, including Mesa Gateway activity. We plan the guest view and operating footprint alongside the creative.

A community gathering around Riverview

Riverview Park connects recreation with a ballpark-area setting. A community-led story could end in an image selected with the organizers. Paths, play areas, water, trees, and nearby transport routes constrain how the public and aircraft areas can be separated; the park’s open appearance is only a starting point.

A private celebration with the right horizon

A Mesa wedding or family milestone can call for a smaller visual story: a date, shared symbol, or final message. We review access, ground condition, neighboring uses, and the audience position before designing the reveal. Desert temperatures, wind, and a weather contingency are part of that plan.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Falcon Field Airport (FFZ)

Northeast Mesa

Official facility information

Include general aviation and training activity in northeast-area proposals. Use the exact flight volume, requested height, and current FAA information.

Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA / IWA)

Southeast Mesa

Official facility information

The current name replaces Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Review passenger, general aviation, and other operations for the precise property and date.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)

Phoenix, Arizona · wider metro

Official facility information

A wider-Valley consideration for west Mesa and other proposed flight volumes. Determine actual requirements from current maps rather than city boundaries.

Luke Air Force Base

West Valley, Arizona · outside Mesa

Official facility information

Relevant if a proposal extends into the west Valley. Military restrictions are location-specific and should not be generalized to every Mesa venue.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

FAA stadium guidance

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

Mesa special-event licensing

Coordinate city event licensing, park conditions, street impacts, and operator permission alongside the distinct FAA review.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Mesa?

Can we include a show with a Mesa spring-training event?

A proposal needs the ballpark operator’s participation, a defined flight footprint, and review of current event restrictions and airspace. A ticket, stadium rental, or ordinary airspace authorization alone does not remove baseball-related flight restrictions.

Can you plan a drone show at my Mesa venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Mesa?

We welcome enquiries for Mesa and surrounding communities including Gilbert, Chandler, Phoenix, Tempe, Apache Junction, Queen Creek. Every proposed property needs an individual site and aviation review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Mesa cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
