Made for this moment

A Bay rhythm. A Swansea story.
At sky scale.

Swansea’s Maritime Quarter, city parks and sporting venues give organisers several ways to gather an audience. We can build a sequence around water, movement and colour while assessing a specific launch area, guest view and flight volume. Coastal exposure, public access and nearby aviation belong in the plan from the beginning.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Swansea

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A musical arc inspired by the Bay

A wave becoming a series of flowing forms can give a Swansea event a local visual starting point. The performance still needs its own assessed setting: a sea view does not remove shoreline access, weather or wildlife considerations.

Singleton Park after the main programme

Singleton Park supports concerts and seasonal gatherings alongside everyday recreation. For your own event, we review trees, garden areas, public routes and the land available for production. Existing fireworks or concert use does not establish permission for a drone display.

A Maritime Quarter gathering

Swansea’s amphitheatre provides an outdoor entertainment setting near the waterfront. Buildings, pedestrian routes and nearby activity can constrain guest sightlines and launch options. The exact performance footprint must be assessed separately from a stage or event booking.

Sporting hospitality in Landore

Swansea.com Stadium gives sports and business gatherings a different setting from the Bay. An aerial proposal needs operator agreement, a view beyond rooflines and an appropriate separated operating area. Match schedules and crowd movements are part of the review.

A company evening with creative focus

Swansea’s cultural attractions and High Street creative activity can inspire an entertainment-led staff celebration. We build the sequence around mood and movement, with proposed promotional content assessed under U.K. rules and indoor-to-outdoor guest movements planned in advance.

A private moment towards Mumbles

A wedding or family occasion toward Mumbles can have a very different exposure from an inland property. Wind, trees, water edges and neighbouring homes affect the proposal. Swansea Airport at Fairwood Common is also part of the relevant local aviation review.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& CAA authorisations.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

We review current U.K. aeronautical information, NOTAMs, restricted airspace and aerodrome Flight Restriction Zones against the full flight area, altitude and date. Civilian and military activity, temporary restrictions and ground permissions each form part of the plan.

Swansea Airport

Fairwood Common, Swansea

Official facility information

The operator publishes an FRZ request process and notes parachuting activity. Review current aircraft and parachute operations for the proposed date and flight volume.

Cardiff Airport

Rhoose, Vale of Glamorgan · wider region, outside Swansea metro

Official facility information

A wider South Wales reference for proposals extending east. Use the actual flight area and current information rather than applying Cardiff requirements to all Swansea venues.

MOD St Athan

Vale of Glamorgan · wider region, outside Swansea metro

Official facility information

A distinct military installation to consider where the wider event location makes it relevant. Military/security requirements are separate from civilian aerodrome permission.

CAA operational authorisation

A swarm display needs an authorisation appropriate to the operation. We review the proposed fleet, flight volume, crowd separation and operating conditions against the applicable Specific Category requirements and current CAA swarm guidance.

CAA swarm guidance

Airspace & aerodrome permission

Operational authorisation and permission to use restricted airspace are separate. We check FRZ boundaries, other restrictions and the relevant aerodrome or air traffic permission process, including NATS where applicable. A NOTAM is a notice, not a flight permission.

NATS flight application guidance

Creative content & ground permissions

Landowner consent, council event requirements and the proposed display content need their own review. CAA guidance flags aerial advertising restrictions under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act; operational authorisation does not settle those requirements.

Swansea park events

The council provides park-hire information; the actual event boundary and production arrangements need discussion alongside the aviation review.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Swansea?

Does a Swansea Bay view make a site suitable for a show?

A view is only one part of the assessment. We need appropriate launch and recovery land, an unobstructed audience direction, control of public access and a feasible flight volume. Wind exposure, wildlife, water activity and local aviation all need review.

Can you plan a drone show at my Swansea venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside central Swansea?

We welcome enquiries for Swansea and the surrounding area. Mumbles is within Swansea; Llanelli, Neath and Cardiff are separate places. Coastal and inland proposals have different landowners, weather exposure and aviation considerations. Share the venue address, date and audience layout so we can assess the specific proposal.

What creative content can a U.K. show include?

We can explore shapes, colour, movement and music for an entertainment-led display. The CAA highlights restrictions on aerial advertising and other communications under section 82 of the Civil Aviation Act. Logos, QR codes and written messages need particular review; an operational authorisation alone does not establish that the content is lawful.

How much does an event in Swansea cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
