Made for this moment

A capital city with a shared story.
At sky scale.

Downtown’s civic spaces, Mid City’s arts gatherings, and the university’s sports traditions offer distinct creative directions. We start with your audience and purpose, then establish the viewing area and a separate operating footprint. The river, levees, live oaks, stadium schedules, and aviation environment shape the practical plan.

Starbound Labs designs the show and brings the performance together. Our Spectra drones, in-house firmware, and Starbound OS software connect the creative work with the fleet and team on the ground.

Rooted in Baton Rouge

A show with a sense of place.

Local inspiration. A story made for your audience.

A civic gathering with one clear view

North Boulevard Town Square and Galvez Plaza connect downtown events with a recognizable civic setting. A community-led sequence can build toward an image selected with your organizers. Stage structures, surrounding streets, trees, nearby buildings, and public access determine where guests can stand and whether a separate flight area can be established.

Let the river frame the composition

The Mississippi can provide a strong horizon for an evening gathering. We agree the intended viewing direction and review river activity, public paths, levee access, lighting, and neighboring property. A riverfront booking does not make the water or levee an available launch and recovery area.

An arts story from Mid City

Mid City’s neighborhood arts gatherings suggest a show shaped with your chosen artists and musicians. A commissioned image or color sequence could carry the collaboration into the evening. We confirm rights and discuss the meaning of the work, then assess the proposed property rather than assuming a street festival provides aircraft space.

Purple, gold, and the people behind the occasion

An LSU fan celebration can use approved colors and graphics to build a shared closing image. Tiger Stadium events require review of qualifying football restrictions, campus conditions, lights, seating, and the actual flight footprint. Campus permission is one part of the plan and does not provide aviation clearance.

A conference closing outside the room

A downtown business gathering or River Center reception could end with a reveal guests watch together outdoors. We review current venue availability, the guest route, nearby structures, and lighting before designing the closing message. Any proposed aircraft area needs its own permission and aviation assessment.

A personal chapter beyond the reception

For a Baton Rouge wedding or a private celebration toward Prairieville, a date or meaningful symbol can be the final image. We review oaks, neighboring land, usable ground, and access for the operating team. Wind, rain, ground condition, and a weather contingency are discussed alongside the creative.

The airspace is part of the plan

Airports, airspace
& FAA approvals.

The right starting point is your exact venue, launch location, show height, and date.

For each proposed show, we check current FAA maps, NOTAMs, temporary flight restrictions, and the complete flight area. Nearby airports and military facilities are part of that review, alongside other local aviation activity.

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR)

North Baton Rouge

Official facility information

Review the entire proposed show volume against current FAA maps and notices, alongside commercial and other aircraft activity.

Louisiana National Guard State Aviation Command

Hammond, Louisiana · wider region, outside Baton Rouge metro

Official facility information

A wider-region military aviation consideration for enquiries extending east. Installation restrictions and military requirements remain separate from civilian FAA authorization.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)

Kenner, Louisiana · wider region, outside Baton Rouge metro

Official facility information

Relevant for proposals extending southeast toward the New Orleans area. Check that property’s actual airspace rather than applying it to every Baton Rouge site.

FAA airspace authorization

Where the flight area requires controlled-airspace authorization, we identify the applicable FAA process. LAANC may be available for eligible operations; airspace authorization for operations using an operational waiver follows the FAA’s designated process through FAADroneZone. An airport phone call is not a substitute for the required FAA authorization.

FAA authorization guidance

Stadiums & event restrictions

Qualifying sporting events can trigger temporary flight restrictions affecting stadiums and surrounding areas. We review the applicable notices and show timing; venue permission or a routine airspace authorization alone does not remove these restrictions.

Show operations & ground permissions

The show plan also determines operational waiver requirements, including a multiple-aircraft waiver where one pilot operates multiple drones. New operational waiver applications use the FAA’s Aviation Safety Hub. Venue and landowner permission, crowd separation, and any local event permits are handled alongside the aviation review.

FAA waiver guidance

Downtown event and greenspace coordination

Discuss the chosen greenspace, stage, street impacts, and event site plan with the Downtown Development District and applicable city-parish offices. Ground permission does not authorize flight.

A few things you might be wondering

Planning a show
in Baton Rouge?

Can a Mississippi riverfront event include a show?

A river view can shape the creative, but the actual land manager, levee access, vessel and public activity, trees, aircraft environment, and full flight footprint must be reviewed. An event reservation does not provide permission to use the river or levee for launch and recovery.

Can you plan a drone show at my Baton Rouge venue?

Start by sharing the address, event date, and any venue information you have. We review the proposed launch area, audience viewing position, access, surrounding airspace, and site conditions before confirming whether a show is feasible.

Do you work outside downtown Baton Rouge?

We welcome enquiries for Baton Rouge and surrounding communities including Port Allen, Zachary, Baker, Central, Denham Springs, Prairieville. Every proposed property needs an individual site and aviation review.

Can the show include our logo, names, or music?

Yes. We design formations, colors, animation, and choreography around your story. Tell us which brand elements, personal details, and music matter to the event so we can discuss the creative direction.

How much does an event in Baton Rouge cost?

Pricing depends on the number of drones, creative scope, event location, travel, and production requirements. Share your plans and we’ll prepare a quote for your event.

How far ahead should we get in touch?

Contact us as soon as you have a date and a possible venue. Early planning gives us time to review the location, develop the show, and coordinate the event requirements. Availability depends on your date and production needs.

What happens if the weather changes?

Weather is part of the planning and show-day review. We discuss operating conditions and contingency arrangements with you before the event; the final decision to fly depends on conditions on the day.
