Imagine mounting a TV high on a wall. You would tilt it down toward the people watching so they face the screen more directly.
The same principle applies to drone show design.
Design for the view from the ground
Drone formations occupy three-dimensional space, but guests usually watch from below and to one side.
An upright formation viewed at an angle can appear compressed. Tilting it down toward the main viewing area helps logos, symbols, and other picture-based formations look closer to their intended proportions.
The aim is to give your audience the clearest view of the story.
Set the audience position in the software
Our drone show software makes this simple: specify where the audience will be in relation to the show, then use that position to orient the design toward them.
The appropriate tilt depends on the formation’s height, its distance from spectators, and the viewing area. Three-dimensional scenes may need individual treatment rather than one angle applied throughout.
Plan the viewing area early
Share where guests will stand or sit before the design is finalized. If that location changes, let the design team know so the viewing angle can be reviewed.
A great-looking formation starts with understanding the people looking up at it.
